Quick answers to help you get started

LAT is a multi-award-winning, triple-accredited provider of financial trading education, established in 2010, and dedicated to helping individuals achieve their trading and investment goals.

Yes. LAT is accredited by the BAC (the British Accreditation Council) which enables international students to study in person at LAT on a Standard UK Visitor Visa. Also, LAT’s flagship 12-week Advanced Diploma programme is accredited by ABE, and our shorter trading courses are certified by CPD (Continuing Professional Development).

There is some good content online, but also some less-good content, so, for a beginner, it can be difficult to know which information to follow, which may start you off on the wrong path.

Free resources can be a useful starting point, but many aspiring traders find it challenging to create a structured learning path from scattered information online.

A professional trading course provides:

  • A clear learning framework
  • Guidance from experienced traders
  • The opportunity to ask questions and receive feedback
  • Practical exercises to apply your knowledge
  • Support in developing a structured trading plan

At the London Academy of Trading, students are not simply given information. They are guided through a process of understanding markets, developing strategies and applying risk management principles

Not at all. None of our courses require any prior experience.

It is both, or either. We offer complete flexibility for you to choose exactly how you want to study. You can study 100% online or 100% face-to-face on our London trading floor, or you can combine the two, spending some days on the trading floor and the rest online.

We try to keep your choices simple. We have just three financial trading courses: a 1-week Introduction to Financial Markets and Trading, a 4-week Intermediate Trading Skills course, and our most popular 12-week Advanced Diploma course. None of the courses require any prior knowledge or trading experience – you choose depending on how deep you want to delve into the world of trading. Our admissions team is happy to help you choose the course that best matches your goals and experience.

You need to be at least 16 years old and have a good understanding of English. No prior trading experience is required.

Yes. Our courses are designed for complete beginners as well as those with some previous trading experience.

We assume no prior knowledge of financial markets, so you’ll start by learning the fundamentals before progressing to more advanced concepts.

Throughout the course, you’ll learn:

  • How financial markets work
  • Technical and fundamental analysis
  • Risk management techniques
  • Trading psychology
  • How to develop and test your own trading strategy

Trading is a practical skill that develops through education, practice and experience. Our structured programmes are designed to help you build the knowledge and confidence needed to trade independently, regardless of your starting point.

You can apply directly through our website by selecting your course and completing the application form. Alternatively, you can contact our sales team by phone +44 (0)20 3435 4629, and they will guide you through the entire application process.

We cover a wide range of financial markets, including stocks, indices, forex, commodities and cryptocurrencies, so you can choose to trade whatever assets you’re interested in.

Yes. One-to-one mentoring is included on all of our courses, whether you study online or on campus.

Trading is a practical skill, and personalised support plays an important role in helping students apply what they learn with confidence.

Students studying on campus receive face-to-face mentoring throughout the day. Online students have access to the same academic support and can book one-to-one mentoring sessions with our experienced tutors Monday to Friday between 07:00 and 17:00 (UK time). Simply let the Academic Team know your preferred time, and we’ll arrange a GoToMeeting session where you can share your screen, discuss your trading ideas, review assignments or ask questions.

In addition to one-to-one mentoring, all students benefit from:

  • Live interactive lessons delivered by experienced traders
  • The opportunity to ask questions throughout every live session
  • Three daily live market webinars analysing current market conditions and trading opportunities
  • Access to our Canvas learning platform containing course materials, recorded lessons, assignments and resources
  • WhatsApp support from the Academic Team during your studies
  • Direct access to tutors via email for additional guidance outside scheduled lessons

Whether you’re learning online or on campus, you’ll receive ongoing support throughout your studies to help you develop your trading knowledge and confidence.

Rather than teaching a single “winning strategy”, we teach students how to develop, test and refine their own trading strategy based on their goals, preferred markets and available trading time.

Every trader is different. A strategy that works well for one person may not suit another, which is why our programmes focus on the principles behind successful trading rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

During the course, you’ll learn how to:

  • Understand macroeconomics and central bank actions and how they affect financial markets
  • Analyse financial markets using technical and fundamental analysis
  • Develop a structured trading plan
  • Apply effective risk management techniques
  • Build discipline and trading psychology
  • Test and evaluate trading strategies using real market conditions
  • Adapt your approach as market conditions change

Our tutors help students understand how professional traders approach the markets, but the goal is for each student to graduate with a personalised trading strategy they understand and have confidence in.

Because trading performance depends on factors such as experience, discipline, risk management and market conditions, no legitimate trading education provider can responsibly guarantee profits or fixed returns. Our focus is on equipping students with the knowledge, practical skills and support needed to trade independently and responsibly.

We base our teaching on the four pillars of trading: fundamental analysis (i.e. news, macroeconomics, politics, geopolitics, etc.), technical analysis (i.e. charts, technical indicators and trends, etc.), trading psychology and risk management. We then combine this knowledge to create structured and robust trading strategies to enable you to navigate the markets with discipline and confidence.

Learning doesn’t have to end when your course finishes. Depending on the programme you choose, you’ll receive up to three months of complimentary access to our daily live market webinars and Discord community after completing your studies.

This allows you to:

  • Stay up to date with changing market conditions
  • Continue learning from experienced trading tutors
  • Engage with fellow traders and alumni
  • Reinforce the knowledge and skills developed during your course

Many students choose to continue their access by subscribing after the complimentary period ends, allowing them to remain part of the LAT trading community and continue receiving regular market insights. Even after completing the course, many graduates stay in touch with us. Some share their trading progress, while others return for guidance or mentoring when reviewing their trading performance or adapting to changing market conditions.

  • Technical analysis
  • Fundamental analysis
  • Risk management
  • Trading psychology
  • Strategy development

Our goal is to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills to approach the financial markets confidently and continue developing as traders long after the course has finished.

Yes. Risk management is one of the core pillars of trading knowledge, so we teach techniques like position sizing, stop-loss setting, and emotional control to enable you to trade responsibly.

Our courses are designed to be flexible, making them suitable for students balancing work, family and other commitments.

The amount of study time depends on the course you choose and your previous experience. As a guide, many of our online students spend around 1–2 hours per day studying course materials, attending live sessions and practising what they’ve learned, although the more time you can spend practising your trading, the better.

You’ll have access to pre-recorded lessons through our Canvas learning platform, allowing you to study at your own pace. We also offer live interactive lessons, daily market webinars and one-to-one mentoring, so you can ask questions and receive support whenever you need it.

Around 85% of our students study online while working full-time, so our courses are designed to fit around busy schedules without compromising the quality of learning.

You can also choose to pause and resume your course whenever you want if you feel you need extra time to absorb the knowledge and practice your trading during your course. If you’re unsure how much time you’ll need to commit, our Student Recruitment Team can help you choose the course that best fits your availability and goals.

Absolutely. We provide demo trading accounts to every student so you can practice your trading without risking real money. We give you a full introduction to the trading platforms to make sure you know how to navigate them (e.g. draw trendlines, add indicators and set up and execute trades).

No. No legitimate trading education provider can responsibly guarantee profits or specific financial returns. Trading performance depends on many factors, including discipline, risk management, trading psychology, market conditions and the amount of time and effort each individual invests in applying what they learn.

What we do guarantee is that you’ll leave the programme with a structured, professional-level understanding of financial markets and the skills to:

  • Understand how financial markets are affected by macro data, geopolitics, and central bank actions
  • Analyse markets using technical and fundamental analysis
  • Build and test your own trading strategy
  • Apply effective risk management
  • Develop a disciplined trading approach
  • Continue improving independently after the course

Our objective is to equip students with the knowledge, practical skills and support needed to trade confidently and responsibly—not to promote unrealistic expectations.

Fees vary depending on the length of your course and how you want to study (online or face-to-face). Full details are available on our course pages.
